Hi there! Welcome to Milk Coach, my name is Alana Shekoni.

My heart

I am passionate about helping families meet their breastfeeding goals. Centered in a wholistic and early advantage approach, I partner with my clients to get ahead of their breastfeeding needs and potential challenges. Let’s not wait for the 2am sore nipples to kick in, I am here to help prepare you for the common physical and emotional challenges of breastfeeding.

My Credentials

I am a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist located in the Chicagoland area, providing virtual consults to my patients in the U.S. I have taken over 100 hours of training through the accredited Lactation Education Resources centre and come from a community of experienced International Board Certified Lactation Consultants to support my practice. I have also completed two years of breastfeeding for both of my children, overcoming many of the common breastfeeding challenges first hand.

My Story

I am a Christian mom of two beautiful babies. We had them back to back, and it was the most beautiful and challenging whirlwind. My husband and I were unprepared for the mental and physical challenges of breastfeeding, which led me to join the cause to provide safe spaces for moms and their support systems as they navigate their breastfeeding journey.

FAQs

  • Whether you are expecting for the first time or nursing your second or third baby, your Milk Coach can provide you with support for your season from prenatal coaching to private classes along the journey of actively feeding your baby. Everyone can use some extra support.

  • A Certified Breastfeeding Specialist (CBS) can offer basic breastfeeding education and support but should refer out for medical or complex issues. IBCLCs are trained to handle complex breastfeeding challenges, including low milk supply, tongue ties, preemie feeding issues, and more.

  • Milk Coach does not currently take insurance. We offer a self-pay model. Your first consultation is free with one free virtual follow-up. Please refer to our Payment Policy for more information

  • We currently do not offer home visits, but check back soon for Chicagoland openings.

  • At this time, we do not offer home visits where test weights can take place.
